This is a very aesthetic south/southeast Asian fusion restaurant in the heart of Santa Monica, a few blocks from the beach! I love the garden and flower vibes, which makes it perfect for a fairly intimate and cute dinner. I made reservations for a Tuesday dinner for 2, which is a good call since while reservations were easy to make, walking in is a bit challenging as it gets busy and you may end up only getting an outside (sidewalk, not patio garden) table, which could diminish your dining experience. We were seated indoors and it was fairly cozy. We got 6 dishes to share a la carte instead of opting for the tasting menu since we didn't want dessert and we wanted to choose our own adventure. Tasting menu will be a little bit cheaper but not by much. Kanpachi - love the coconut flavors of this dish. I have had many iterations of this in the Pacific Northwest and the freshness and quality of this is up there Grilled prawns - order is for 3 pcs but we added a 4th piece so we both get to have 2pcs each. The extra piece was $6 more but worthwhile. It has a nice grilled flavor and I love the slightly spicy sauce that comes with it. Curry puffs - fried and a bit heavy, served with pickled onions and tamarind ketchup. This was fairly filling and a good experience once, but I tend to not like fried foods so this would be skippable if I visit again. Green papaya salad - good twist to the classics, but it was not too memorable. Beef rendang - not really the rendang I was envisioning but it was really good for a fusion take. The beef was fairly tender and the sauces further enhance the dish. We got rice and roti on the side and those are excellent to go with this dish. The lemongrass flavors are amazing. Dry aged branzino - the curry is good but doesn't take away focus of the branzino meat itself. I love the skin though there were still a few bones here and there. I got the lychee blossom drink and it was good, but for $17 and ingredients that are fairly simple to procure and make the drink, it's skippable but I wanted the full experience so I did a bit of a splurge. Overall, food is good and service is fairly solid. The items we ordered are coursed appropriately and in a timely manner so that we can enjoy each dish thoroughly but not at a rush. It's a good restaurant that I see myself going again - it's a really nice date spot

There is a good reason Cobi's has a Bib Gourmand rating from Michelin, given for "exceptionally good food at moderate prices." The South Asian dishes here are a twist on the standards we see elsewhere. Each dish is well thought out, with flavors that pop. Tip: The menu shows little pepper images next to spicy dishes, but the not-flagged dishes we have tried have been (to this spice-wimp) mild to moderate in spice. They are so delicious that I eat them anyway, but just a caution if you are not a fan of spicy food, these have a little kick. The décor is charming. Starting with the pink building and its green trim. The setting is like sitting in a garden full of flowers. Delightful! Vintage mismatched china adds to the charm. Curry Puffs are the perfect appetizer for two people to split. It is a reimagined Samosa. A triangle of golden perfection. Curried split pea and potato filling in a puff pastry, served with pickled onions and tamarind ketchup. Mister Dal is an excellent yellow curry with split peas, coconut milk, and crispy curry leaves. The African Curry was a nice surprise. A peanutty flavor with smoked sweet potato. Next time we will add shrimp. Butter Chicken has the kind of sauce which makes you want to lick the bowl. The Maitake Mushroom is a visually stunning dish. It tasted nice, but not special. Would not order again at $16 for one large mushroom. The curries pair beautifully with an order of Roti - which the way Cobi's makes it is like an excellent Naan bread, in my opinion. Service here is always on point. Just wish they offered Raita or Labneh to cool down the spices.

First time here and the food is amazingly yummylicious. 5 stars for the food. We got The Chef's Selection which consists of the papaya salad, kanpachi, the prawns, curry puffs, beef curry, short rib and a dessert. Flavor is delightful. This is the best way to taste a few of the dishes. Each dish was great. It wasn't lacking in flavor or over powering. Each was just right. 5 stars for the service. We were seated right away (with reservations). Our server was attentive and very friendly. 3.5 stars for the wait between dishes. We were here at 5 right when they opened so I understand; however, I was hoping it would get a little better as we get through the courses but it didn't. I watched the other tables get their dishes one after the other with shorter intervals. This is a very lovely place for any occasion, from just because to a hot date night. We will definitely come back to try the spicy chicken curry and the branzino. Thank you for a lovely evening. See you all soon.

Came here for our anniversary and they were so sweet! We got a card and some roses from the restaurant which was very thoughtful. The place itself is so cute and charming it is almost like a house that got converted into a restaurant with fairy vibes. The food was also good I really enjoyed the kanpachi appetizer. It was the first time I've had a sauce like that on raw fish. The fried rice was also crispy and amazing. The butter chicken was good but I would have liked the chicken to be more tender. We got roti with it which was small but good. Our main entree was a special, a fried fish I forgot what kind. But it was very good just a little too spicy. For dessert we were so full so we opted for the strawberry basil shaved ice which was decent but I probably would not choose it again. The staff were so sweet and accommodating as well. I will definitely be back here!

My first time at Cobi's was a good experience! Definitely recommend getting a reservation because this place was full full on a Saturday, we waited for about 2ish hours. The interior aesthetic is very cute! All tables are candle lit, and have a small flower vase, the bar is beautiful, covered in flowers. We ordered the butter chicken, roti and nasi goreng with pork belly: The butter chicken was amazing!! 10/10, the spices were perfect, tangy, creamy and delicious, the roti was soft yet crispy, almost like a parantha. The Nasi Goreng with pork belly was good. It had an earthy flavor, and the pork was juicy and well cooked. Overall, definitely worth trying once!

Must go. I've never given a more appropriate 5 star. **Arrival Experience:** Street parking or a short walk from the lots at the community garden or the daily beach lot. Upon arriving at Cobi's on Main Street in Santa Monica, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The ambiance was inviting with cozy "tea party" decor including unique plates and hanging roses from the ceiling, setting the tone for a standout dining experience. **Food:** We indulged in a delightful array of Asian fusion dishes, and each bite was a culinary adventure. The lychee cocktail started our meal with a refreshing burst of flavor, setting the stage for what was to come. The hamachi in coconut milk was a standout, perfectly balancing the richness of coconut with the delicate flavors of the hamachi. The dumplings were so delicious that they disappeared in seconds, leaving us craving more. The devil curry packed a punch of spices that brought the heat, and the roti was delightfully flaky, a perfect accompaniment to soak up every bit of curry sauce. The nasi goreng with pork belly was a hearty dish that impressed with its combination of savory pork belly, fluffy rice, and a surprising crunch from the small slices of green beans. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and showcased a harmonious blend of flavors. **Service:** The service at Cobi's was impeccable throughout our meal. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations that perfectly matched our preferences. Our dishes arrived promptly and were presented beautifully. The staff was attentive and helpful without being intrusive, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Overall, our visit to Cobi's was a memorable one. The combination of delicious food, inviting ambiance, and excellent service makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to explore Asian fusion cuisine in Santa Monica. We left fully satisfied and already planning our next visit to try the rest of the menu.

This place is such a gem! My friend visiting from out of town was craving Indian but we found this wonderful place instead and had such a great experience from start to finish. We didn't reserve on a Friday night and were seated immediately when walking in at 6PM. Our server was such a friendly guy and introduced some of the most popular items on the menu. We sat outdoors where there were heat lamps and it created such a cute, intimate setting against the backdrop of the pink building. Since my friend is vegetarian, we ordered the Grilled Maitake Mushroom, Samosa and African Curry. The mushroom was nothing to write home about and it came with a green, sour dense sauce. However, the samosas and African curry are where it's at! The samosa was perfectly crispy on the inside and creamy on the inside from the potatoes--I liked the tamarind sauce it was served with. The African curry blew my mind away with how flavor-packed it is. This is my first time trying African curry and if it tastes legit, I need to start scouring for more African curry places in LA. When I got home, I immediately shared with my fiance how excited I was to find another delicious restaurant in our vicinity so we'll be back to visit soon!

Cobi's in Santa Monica is a revelation! This trendy spot isn't just about aesthetics (though the overall decor is gorgeous), it's about seriously delicious Southeast Asian cuisine. I started with the curry puffs - a must-order! Flaky pastry encases a savory filling, and the tamarind ketchup for dipping was divine. Then I had the roti wrap. There were two kinds that come in twos. I ordered one of each. One with beef rendang, pickles, cilantro, egg, sambal relish. The other one with dal, raita, pickled tomato, mint, fried chickpeas. The complex spice blends were incredible, and both tasted fresh and flavorful. I also ordered the Hainan chicken congee which was bursting with flavor - perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.

A little late to the Cobi's party, but better late than never, right? The answer to that is 100% when it comes to this southeast Asian restaurant. Their motto is "join us amongst the flowers" and they should add to that "for some amazing food". Everything on the menu looked good, so we opted for the Chef's Selection. Here's everything it came with: 1x Raw Bar - kanpachi 2x Snacks - 3pc. grilled prawns + curry puffs 1x Curries - Beef Rendang 1x Wood Grill - beef short rib with a side of roti Everything was flavorful, hot (temperature & spice), and the order of dishes flowed well together. Highly recommend grabbing a bottle of wine and food with friends here.

I came here for dinner today after hearing all of the hype and this place did not disappoint. Everything was delicious. For the appetizers we got the salmon and curry puffs. The salmon was definitely the highlight of the meal. We both loved it. The salmon was fresh and fatty and it paired beautifully with the shrimp crackers. The curry puff was good too but it was probably my least favorite dish. I wish it came with chutney for the dip. For the main dishes, we got the nasi goreng and butter chicken. I really enjoyed the nasi goreng but it had an overly sweet aftertaste. I wish it was more savory. My friend adored this dish. The butter chicken was delicious too. Very savory but definitely not authentic butter chicken. My friend, who is Indian, thought it was very Americanized. I've definitely had better at Indian restaurants. Overall the food was delicious and I would love to come back to try new dishes and order the salmon again.
